Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012
As an employer or commercial property owner you have a legal obligation to protect those working for you and those visiting your building. Your duties are defined in Regulation 4 (Duty to manage asbestos in non-domestic Premises) of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. These parameters place strict obligations on employers to manage asbestos risks effectively in the workplace and on duty holders to manage the same risks in non-domestic properties.
An asbestos management plan will help you tackle these responsibilities and will involve:
- Identifying and recording all instances of asbestos containing materials in the property
- Deciding what areas claim priority status
- Planning work and establishing what actions must be taken
